Burning Man

Have you been to Burning Man?

I went in 2016 and 2017 and it was pretty remarkable to witness a community build a 1.5-mile city in less than a month. Experiences were experimental, installations were inspiring, and the conversations amongst 70,000 people from all over the world expanded my views on the qualities of life.

A float starts in a weird sci-fi space as well

Once you get ready for the dark, a whole world awaits

Imagine you’re in the middle of the desert and you see distant festival lights. It’s warm and breezy and you feel the pounding beat of music vibrate through your boots.

An art car drives by, splashing colored lights and playing music

your bike is all lit up and oh cool, that one has wings!

speeding around on the flat desert ground in your light coat, your gears squeak with caked dust and your backpack is a little lopsided but it doesn’t really matter because there is no itinerary, you can go any direction, follow any impulse

and then you come across a chapel, it’s quieter here and you take a deep breath, simple, strong, and at peace.

maybe you wake up for a moment and remember you’re floating, but sinking back into your dreams becomes lucid and easy

what if you make a cool sculpture, maybe an arch made of crystals

maybe you play some music and dance

maybe you cook delicious food
(big thank you hug to Brad on the left)

or straight chill on the couch

maybe you wanna look cute and go on an adventure

hop on some wheels

and find a jar of honey that’s taller than you

maybe you want to meet cool people who do cool things

or help make your community a better place

maybe you like the concept of city planning

so you start working on the pieces that are important to you

and then the float comes to an end, but hey, maybe you can expand your mind more often
