Fishbowl Meditation

Stirbee II died today, November 6th, 2024. Before I found out, I spent my morning in bed, learning German, watching tarot readings, and meditating.

In this meditation, I felt a stronger connection to a higher source. I was guided to give all my worries to the Universe, and in her hands, they looked like little bits of dust. She sprinkled the dust into the galaxy like stars. I felt a sphere of light around me like a fishbowl full of water and there were little orange goldfish swimming gracefully around me, nibbling on the fishfood stardust of my worries.

I tried to look up what I had imagined on Pinterest, and when I found computer-generated images that weren’t quite what I had imagined, I ventured into an AI image generator myself.

While listening to this crystal singing bowl meditation, I tried to briefly describe what I had imagined. Artificial Intelligence can only do as best as the exact words prompted. At first, I used shortcut googling phrases. The images started to improve the more I finessed based on its understanding. I found that the process was just as fun and tried to describe the meditator based on the adjacent image.

Phrases like:

  • Large rough outline of a person meditating surrounded by water in a giant sphere full of water with 5 tiny orange goldfish

  • Outline of a person meditating underwater in giant sphere of water, five tiny orange goldfish swim around, floating in a nebula galaxy

  • Outline of a person sitting under a blanket in space in giant sphere of water in space, five tiny orange goldfish swim around the meditator as they floating in a nebula galaxy

  • Loose vauge unfocused Outline of a person facing back sitting under a blanket with blanket covering the head, in space in giant sphere of water in space, five tiny orange goldfish swim around the person and eat tiny stars as they floating in a nebula galaxy, cartoon

When AI turned the person around, it helped align my vision with my experience from the meditation. In this way, the image reconnects me to that deep meditation, I relax my shoulders, connect with the greater power of the Universe, and release my worries to feed the little orange goldfish.

Stirbee had landed in his water bowl, in his own sphere of the Universe. With such a strong connection to this little creature, this AI image also reminds me of cherishing the present. Thank you Stirbee for being a wonderful companion, you reminded me of the beauty of life, adventure, and gratitude. Thank you for always praying and meditating with me. <3

When Stirbee was a few weeks old, I accidentally broke off one of his legs. As I cried, he looked at me perplexed like nothing was any different. He tended to it, lived gracefully with it, and grew his leg back during his next molting, amazing!
