Church Color Therapy

There are a variety of colors in places of worship and can be seen as a version of color therapy. Design choices include stained glass, colored walls and fabrics, gold-plated objects, flowers, and lighting.

I spent time in different types of sacred spaces and noticed how it created an atmosphere of peace and good vibes. Local religions included Thai Buddhist, Vietnamese Buddhist, Japanese Buddhist, Hinduist, Catholic, Jewish, Christian, Sufism, Greek Orthodox, and Multi-Religion.

Aside from the presence of God, gratitude, and thanksgiving, the lighting perhaps played a role in wellness, release of tension, and enlightenment.

In multiple cultures throughout history, color was used as medicine, known today as color therapy or chromotherapy. It has been found that certain light frequencies improve ATP production which helps in pain reduction. Learning about what colors you’re attracted to can help differentiate the energies needed for support during this phase of your life.

Other examples of color therapy include a digital color meditation and a walk-through of Antoni Gaudí’s Sagrada Familia.
