Charging Crystals at a DJ Set

I have this cute little holographic clutch that I brought to 1720, a warehouse-like music venue in the Fashion district of Downtown Los Angeles. In it, my phone, keys, cash and cards, lip and hand products, earplugs, and crystals for good measure. I pretty much always have a crystal or two on my person and they’re chosen semi-randomly and semi-representationally.

I’ve seen Ross From Friends a few times and I always have a good time with good music, good dancing, and in a crowd of good people. So when I chose crystals for a night like this, I see them as little good luck charms and protectors for a fun night and gravitated towards an amethyst and a clear crystal quartz. For the clear crystal quartz, I see it as an amplifier of the good energy that I’m absorbing and emitting.

The purple amethyst represents my spiritual connections to my higher self. When I’m dancing, I feel like I’m refreshed and reborn. During my undergraduate, my classmate Colin, and I would go to Flammable, a Sunday night house music set in a tiny club called Re-Bar in Downtown Seattle. In its 1500 sf space, they fit a bar, bathrooms, a dancefloor, and two long steps to the platform stage. The music, iconic lighting, and friendly regulars created a healing routine that we would call “going to church”. Concert-like venues with high ceilings have a similar kind of music therapy but there’s something unique about a low-ish ceiling that creates a powerful acoustic effect.

The DJ sets at 1720 mixed long and low bass beats with vibrations that traveled far outside its doors. They seemed to rise from the ground, traveled up my bouncing legs, and surrounded my heart like the pulsating walls that captured the joy of our collective energy. These vibrations shook fear out of me, I felt free, released, and in the present.

After 3 am, I danced so much that I could barely walk and couldn’t even stay for the whole set. The next day, as I took out each item from my clutch, all things felt the same but the crystals had this energetic brightness to them. I could feel them radiating with feelings of positivity, goodness, and exuberance. Perhaps the crystals have a special kind of density that holds this wonderful energy longer than my sore muscles did. Now I see that my pocket crystals have an additional ability to hold the healing power of a DJ set.

If you want to experience these kinds of healing vibrations, catch Ross From Friends on tour, and don’t forget to bring some crystals along.
